Overland Airways Begins Akure, Ilorin Flights July 29, As Govt. Approves Domestic Operations In 16 Airports

Overland Airways has announced resumption of domestic flights to Akure and Ilorin Airports on July 29, 2020. This follows the Federal Government of Nigeria’s approval for 16 airports to commence full domestic operations.

 

Senator Hadi Sirika, Minister of Aviation, had earlier disclosed on twitter handle that 14 airports had been inspected and approved for reopening of domestic operations; but two other airports had also been added to the list.

 

“Glad to announce that the following airports are open for full domestic operations, hence a ministerial approval in and out of them is not required. This includes private and charter operations. We will keep you informed on the reminder airports in due course, please,” Sen. Sirika said.

 

The approvals to commence regular domestic operations started with the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja on July 8, 2020.

 

They were followed by the Mallam Aminu Kano Airport (MAKA) and Port-Harcourt Airport, Sam Mbakwe and Maiduguri which were cleared to start flight operation on July 11, 2020. Victor Attah Airport was approved for resumption of flight operations July 15.

 

Others including Kaduna Airport, Yola Airprot, Calabar Airport, Sokoto Airport, were given the go-ahead to start domestic operations on July 19, while Birnini Kebbi Airport was for July 20.

 

For domestic operations also, Jos Airport and Benin Airport were given approval to resume on July 24, while Akure and Ilorin were approved for operations from July 28.
