Acquisition …Congo Airways To Receive New Embraer E175 Aircraft

Congo Airways says it has signed a deal with Embraer for two E175 aircraft and also secured a purchase right for two more with deliveries set for the fourth quarter of 2020, and valued at USD 194.4 million with all purchase right exercised.

Congo Airways CEO, Desire Bantu, says the new jets will replace the current turboprop and allowing the airline to serve routes between Democratic Republic of Congo, West, Southern and Central Africa.

“We will now have the flexibility and the right-sized aircraft to serve our market, which is growing so rapidly an additional order may be required, for which the E2 is a particularly compelling option,” he states.

The Vice President Sales, Embraer Commercial Aviation for Africa and Middle East, Raul Villaron, states: “It’s great to welcome another airline to the Embraer family of operators, especially in Africa where the demand for regional travel is growing strongly. We look forward to supporting Congo Airways as they continue to upgrade their offering to their customers.”
