KAA To Upgrade Kisumu International Airport, Wins ACI Award

Expansion

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) says it has commenced rehabilitation, upgrade and expansion project for Kisumu International Airport.

According to KAA, the upgrade project will see the construction of a mezzanine floor within the KIA Passenger Terminal Building to increase passenger capacity & provide an additional VIP lounge.

The existing passenger terminal building will also be extended to provide additional boarding gate area, an arrivals hall and landside vehicle grade parking.

The upgrade project comes as Kisumu County is preparing to this year host the Africities Summit, an event that will attract a large number of delegates from across the African continent.

KAA also states that Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi and Moi International Airport (MIA), Mombasa received awards for their excellence in customer service from the Airports Council International (ACI World), for the second year running.

JKIA and MIA have won the 2021 Best Airport by Size and Region in the 5 – 15 million passengers per year and Under 2 million passengers per year in Africa categories respectively, in ACI’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey considered as the aviation industry’s most comprehensive passenger service-benchmarking program.
