The Nigerian government has extended the flight restriction in Nigeria for another 4 weeks on the advise of experts, as part of measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Chairman of Nigeria’s Tax Force on COVID-19, Mr. Boss Mustapha, announced the extension in a recent briefing just as the previous lockdown period ended.
In a notice to all Nigerian operators and foreign operators flying into Nigeria, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Musa S. Nuhu, stated that the extension of t flight restriction was effective from May 7 to June 4, 2020.
He noted: “We wish to inform you that the closure of the five international airports namely Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos (DNMM), Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja (DNAA), Mallam Ainu Kano International Airport, Kano (DNKN), Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa (DNPO) and Akanu Ibiam International Airport,Enugu (DNEN), has been extended for a further four weeks effective 2300Z on 7th May to 2300Z on 14th June, 2020.”
He also added that “Henceforth, all airports in Nigeria are closed to all flights except for emergency and essential flights.”
