Ethiopian Airlines Celebrates 50 Years of Service to Kigali

Ethiopian Airlines has marked “the 50th anniversary of its inaugural flight to Kigali, Rwanda.” According to the airline, “Since launching the Addis Ababa–Kigali route in 1975, the airline has played a pivotal role in strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between Ethiopia and Rwanda, while serving as a vital link connecting the two nations and beyond.”

Mr. Mesfin Tasew, ET’s Group CEO said: “Over 50 years of service to Kigali, we have expanded both our passenger and cargo operations, with increased frequencies for the benefit of our customers”.

Ethiopian Airlines says it currently “operates 21 weekly passenger flights and three dedicated cargo services to Kigali, offering seamless connections to its extensive global network of over 145 destinations across five continents.”

As the largest network operator in Africa, Ethiopian plays a vital role in connecting the diverse nations of Africa with each other and the rest of the world. The Airlines’ expanding network is further narrowing connection gaps between Africa and major economic cities. Ethiopian Airlines’ flights further foster intra-African trade and tourism and facilitates crucial diplomatic and cultural exchange Beyond the continent, Ethiopian extends its wings to key economic and cultural centers across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East.
