The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has certified Nigerian aviation company, Elin Air with the “Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) Certificates and Operations Specification (OPSPEC).”
Elin Air says the certification enables it “to expand its scope of operations, moving beyond maintenance of its own fleet to servicing third-party aircraft.” This certification comes after Elin Air’s “historic achievement earlier in the year, when the company successfully conducted Africa’s first 7,800 landings check on a Bombardier Challenger 604 in Nigeria between April and June 2025.”
Elin Air says: “Comparable to a commercial D-check, the maintenance project involved extensive inspection and overhaul of engines, auxiliary power units, fuel systems, flight controls, and cabin refurbishment” and confirms that the entire procedure was executed by its “Nigerian engineers, fully compliant with global aviation safety standards, without reliance on expatriates or overseas facilities.”
Elin Group currently operates a Bombardier Challenger 604 and a Leonardo Agusta A109E helicopter. Its consistent record of safety and operational reliability has been built on in-house engineering expertise and adherence to strict NCAA maintenance authorisations.
With the newly issued AMO certification, Elin Group says it is “now positioned to extend these services to external operators, supporting the growth of Nigeria’s Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) capacity. The development is also expected to create new jobs for Nigerian engineers, strengthen technical talent pipelines, and reduce capital flight associated with offshore maintenance.”
Engr. Dr. Benedict Adeyileka FNSE, Executive Director, Elin Group Limited, said: “The issuance of the AMO Certificates and OPSPEC by the NCAA is a landmark for both Elin Group and Nigeria’s aviation industry. This approval empowers us to maintain our fleet and extend services to other operators, thereby supporting the sector’s growth. It affirms the standards we have upheld over the years and places on us the responsibility to expand services that strengthen the aviation ecosystem. We thank the NCAA for their confidence in our capabilities. This recognition inspires us to keep striving for excellence and innovation in building a stronger, safer, and more sustainable aviation industry.”
This approval reinforces Nigeria’s potential to emerge as a regional hub for MRO services, in a market historically dominated by offshore providers.
